A gigantic white sperm whale is stranded in the middle of a city. Around the dying animal, people grumble and complain, traffic is brought to a halt. On a school bus, a little girl is memorizing a poem. When she steps out to see what is happening, she decides to approach the creature to find a way through. Drawn in by the whale’s song of agony, she follows it and in doing so leads the townspeople to see the animal differently, and to share in a strange, musical collective experience.
